Litigation Specialist

Responsibilities

- Independently manage and oversee the full litigation lifecycle for the organization, including pre-litigation strategy, filing/defending suits, appeals, execution proceedings, and alternative dispute resolution (arbitration, mediation, conciliation).
- Appear and argue cases before various courts, tribunals (including NCLT, DRT, Consumer Forums, Labour Courts, etc.), and coordinate effectively with external counsel where required.
- Conduct in-depth legal research on statutes, case laws, precedents, and regulatory developments; prepare legal opinions, risk assessments, and mitigation strategies.
- Strategically manage external litigation counsel brief them, review their work product, monitor case progress, control costs, and ensure alignment with company objectives.
- Handle civil/commercial disputes, contractual claims, property/title disputes, employment & labour matters, recovery suits, IP litigation, regulatory proceedings, and shareholder/investment-related disputes.
- Provide proactive litigation risk advice to business teams (sales, operations, HR, finance) during contract negotiation, policy formulation, and dispute prevention.
- Monitor and track all ongoing/ potential litigation matters; maintain litigation registers, MIS reports, and escalation matrices.
- Support settlement negotiations, out-of-court resolutions, and enforcement of decrees/awards.
- Stay updated on changes in Indian laws (CPC, CrPC, Evidence Act, IBC, Arbitration Act, labour laws, etc.) and contribute to internal legal training/awareness programs.

Qualifications

- LL.B. from a recognized university; enrolment with any State Bar Council as an Advocate (mandatory).
- Active courtroom practice as an Advocate (High Court / District Court / Tribunals exposure preferred).
- In-house legal experience handling litigation strategy, coordination with external counsel, and corporate dispute management (preferred).
- Strong track record of independently handling civil, commercial, and/or employment litigation.
- Experience in one or more of the following sectors is desirable:
Pharma, Infrastructure, Real Estate, or Manufacturing.

- Proficiency in legal databases (Manupatra, SCC Online, Indian Kanoon, Westlaw India, etc.).
- Good negotiation, stakeholder management, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
- High ethical standards, attention to detail, and ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines.
- Fluency in English (written & spoken), Hindi.
