About the Role
We are looking for a highly skilled  Senior API Integration Engineer  with strong expertise in  IBM API Connect and IBM Data Power  to support enterprise API development, integration, and gateway management.
The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience configuring API definitions (YAML), implementing Data Power routing and proxy rules, and managing API deployments through CI/CD pipelines. This role requires strong middleware knowledge, troubleshooting expertise, and the ability to work in complex enterprise integration environments.

Key Responsibilities
API Development & Configuration
Configure and modify  API YAML definitions  for REST and SOAP services.
Design, develop, and manage APIs using  IBM API Connect .
Ensure APIs follow enterprise security, governance, and lifecycle management standards.
IBM Data Power Administration & Routing
Configure and manage  IBM Data Power Gateway  services.
Implement routing rules, proxy gateway configurations, and transformation policies.
Design secure API exposure for both internal and external consumers.
Troubleshoot and resolve gateway-level issues including routing errors, timeouts, and connectivity failures.
Integration & Middleware Management
Integrate internally developed components including:
APIs and web services
IIB broker services
IBM MQ queues
IBM Data Power artifacts
Work with middleware components across distributed environments.
CI/CD & Deployment Automation
Deploy APIs using pre-existing pipeline tools such as  Jenkins .
Support and enhance CI/CD pipelines for API and middleware deployments.
Automate deployment processes using  Shell and Python scripting .
Monitoring & Troubleshooting
Analyze logs and diagnose integration issues across APIs and middleware platforms.
Perform root cause analysis for production incidents and performance issues.
Ensure high availability, performance, and security of API platforms.
Collaboration & Governance
Work closely with development, infrastructure, and Dev Ops teams to ensure seamless integration.
Participate in change management, release planning, and production support activities.
Document architecture, configurations, and operational runbooks.

Skills & Qualifications
Technical Skills
7+ years  of experience in API development, middleware, or integration roles.
Strong expertise in  IBM API Connect .
Hands-on experience with  IBM Data Power Gateway  configuration and routing.
Ability to configure and modify  API YAML code .
Solid understanding of  SOAP, REST, and API design concepts .
Strong understanding of  CI/CD concepts  and deployment pipelines.
Experience deploying APIs using  Jenkins  or similar tools.
Middleware & Platform Knowledge
Strong experience working with:
IBM MQ
IBM App Connect Enterprise (ACE / IIB)
IBM Web Sphere Application Server
Familiarity with middleware command-line tools in  AIX, Linux, and Windows  environments.
Nice-to-Have Skills
Experience integrating APIs with enterprise systems and messaging platforms.
Hands-on experience with  Jira  for tracking and release management.
Scripting expertise using  Shell and Python  for automation and operational improvements.
Experience in performance tuning and optimization of middleware components.
Familiarity with enterprise security standards and API governance frameworks.
