The Head
- Clinical Recruitment is responsible for leading and managing the end-to-end recruitment of doctors across all specialties within the hospital. This role oversees doctor workforce planning, talent acquisition strategy, onboarding, credentialing coordination, and relationships with medical colleges, consultants, and senior clinical leaders. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of hospital operations, medical specialty requirements and the complexities of physician hiring.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic Workforce Planning
Partner with Hospital Leadership, Medical Directors, and Department Heads to identify current and future doctor manpower needs.
Develop hiring strategies to ensure timely availability of specialists, super specialists, visiting consultants, and resident doctors.
Maintain a pipeline of qualified doctors for critical and high-demand specialties.
2. Talent Acquisition & Sourcing
Lead the full-cycle recruitment process for doctors across all departments.
Source candidates through medical colleges, conferences, professional networks, medical associations, job portals, campus recruitment, and referrals.
Build strong relationships with residency programs, DNB/MD/MS institutions, and fellowship programs.
3. Screening & Selection
Review CVs, verify credentials, and evaluate candidates’ educational background, clinical experience, and licensing.
Conduct initial screening discussions and coordinate technical interviews with clinical leadership.
Facilitate clinical assessments, trial OPDs, or visit rounds when applicable.
4. Offer Management & Onboarding
Draft, negotiate, and finalize compensation packages as per hospital standards.
Ensure smooth onboarding, including joining formalities, documentation, credentialing assistance, medical council registration verification, and hospital orientation.
Coordinate with HR, Compliance, and Quality teams to ensure doctors meet accreditation requirements (NABH/NABL/JCI).
5. Relationship & Stakeholder Management
Work closely with Chief Medical Officer (CMO), HR Head and Unit Heads regarding hiring priorities.
Build long-term relationships with doctors, consultants, and academic institutions.
Represent the hospital in medical recruitment fairs, conferences, and networking events.
6. Compliance, Reporting & Documentation
Ensure all doctor hiring processes comply with medical council regulations and hospital policies.
Maintain complete and updated records in ATS/HRMS.
Prepare monthly dashboards on doctor recruitment status, lead time, pipeline health, and attrition analysis.
Qualifications
Education
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Human Resources, Healthcare Administration, Hospital Management, or related field.
MPH/MHA/PGDHM or similar qualifications preferred.
Experience
10 to 15 years of recruitment experience, with at least 3–5 years specifically in doctor hiring within a hospital or healthcare group.
Experience hiring specialists, super-specialists, consultants, registrars, and residents.
Skills & Competencies
Strong understanding of medical specialties, hospital clinical workflows, and credentialing requirements.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
Ability to work under pressure and handle high-volume or urgent hiring needs.
Proficiency in recruitment platforms, ATS systems, and MS Office.
Strong analytical and reporting capability.

Time-to-hire for critical medical roles
Hiring ratio for specialists and super specialists
Offer-to-joining conversion rate
Pipeline strength across departments
Hiring manager and doctor satisfaction
Doctor attrition/retention in first 12 months
