Cashier

Part‑time position.

Location

Mall at Prince George’s, 3500 East‑West Hwy, Hyattsville, MD 20782.

Position Summary

The primary responsibilities of the Cashier position are to maintain outstanding customer service, uphold the store’s Mission and Core Values, generate sales, perform housekeeping, merchandising, signing, pricing, cash‑register operations (POS), loss prevention, and support the store management team.
Cashiers are in charge of the customer‑first philosophy and are essential in delivering the best customer shopping experience possible.

Reports To

Store Manager, Assistant Manager.

Major Responsibilities
  • Ensure that each customer receives outstanding customer service by providing a friendly environment, greeting and acknowledging every customer, maintaining high standards, solid product knowledge, and all other components of customer service.
  • Maintain an awareness of all product information, merchandise promotions, and advertisements.
  • Assist in floor moves, merchandising, display maintenance, and store housekeeping.
  • Assist in processing and replenishing merchandise; participate in receiving and monitoring floor stock; ensure procedures are done promptly.
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and practices, including signing, pricing, and loss prevention.
  • Accurately and efficiently complete all sales transactions and maintain proper cash accountabilities at POS registers.
  • Perform other tasks as assigned from time to time by store management.
  • Communicate customer requests to management.
Minimum Requirements
  • Knowledge of retail computer systems, MS Word and Excel is a plus.
  • A commitment to service excellence and customer satisfaction.
  • Solid team player with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent communication skills, high attention to detail, and ability to multi‑task.
  • Ability and willingness to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands
  • Must be able to lift, move and handle up to 60 pounds frequently to stock merchandise.
  • Ability to stand/walk for an extended period.
  • Ability to bend, reach, lift and climb.
