Overview
Accounting Assistant - Part Time (20-25 hours) :
Hyattsville, MD - based accounting services company seeks a talented, dependable professional to assist the accounting team with day to day activities. This is NOT a remote position. All staff are expected to work on site.
FLSA: Non Exempt position. Overtime evening or weekend work may be required during heavy work periods.
About the Role:
As the Accounting Assistant, you effectively and efficiently participate in day to day activities of our clients. In this role, you provide support to management, communications, and operations by implementing administrative systems, and executing bookkeeping activities which contribute to assisting us with remaining the trusted accounting partner of many.
In this role, you are a person of integrity working in a professional manner, maintaining a high degree of confidentiality, and demonstrating exceptional administrative and organizational skills. Your capacity to understand and anticipate the needs of your team contributes to your active approach to problem solving.
Responsibilities include:
Administrative (10%)- Ensures effective telephone and electronic communications both internally and externally to maintain professional image
- Participates in special projects as needed
- Day to Day Financial Data Entry
- Accounts Receivable Support
- Support Accounting Team with Payroll and Benefits administration management
- Assist with Grant Tracking, management, and future opportunities
- Minimum of 1-3 years of progressive accounting experience.
- Accounting office experience (preferred)
- Must be proficient in Quick Books
- Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Excel.
- Proficient in MS Office, Google Systems, and Adobe.
- Must be accurate & organized; meet deadlines; be detailed oriented with strong analytical skills;
Self Starter that shows initiative - Team player with ability to work independently.
- High School Diploma or equivalent preferred; college degree a plus.
- Proven progressive working experience as a bookkeeper or accounting clerk
- One-Three years office experience;
- Knowledge of office management systems and procedures
- Outstanding organizational and time management skills
- Ability to multitask and prioritize daily workload
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Discretion and confidentiality
- Successful passage of background check
Salary: $20.00/hour PLUS Bonuses and Employee Benefits;
Starting salary will be re-evaluated after evaluation period
Benefits (PT Employees):
- PTO: 14 days annually
- Local Travel Stipend: $100/monthly (must work 30 days and submit documentation of using public transportation in order to be approved)
- Retirement Plan:
All employees can contribute. Once employees reach 20 working hours weekly, the employer matches dollar for dollar up to 5% of wages
