AboutThe Role
As Store Manager, you will provide oversight and leadership for the entire store team. You are the primary leader for delivering customer experience and associate engagement. You will teach, coach, and develop associates to deliver excellent service, merchandising expertise, and consistent operational execution. You will be accountable for the overall results and success of all key performance measures, with a primary goal of driving sales and profitability.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Guide profitable sales, meet store financial plans, and accomplish performance goals through strategic decisions and leadership.
- Achieve payroll plan by managing store schedules, monitoring labor costs, and adapting to business conditions based on weekly and monthly sales; plan payroll and scheduling based on store traffic to ensure sufficient staffing.
- Recruit, hire, and make employment decisions for all levels of store personnel, including management.
- Manage associate relations issues, including performance management, and ensure policies are followed.
- Train new hires on Kohl’s culture, product knowledge, selling practices, and responsibilities; hold associates accountable to goals.
- Coach the team to increase knowledge, provide development opportunities, and create succession plans.
- Manage inventory through accurate shipping, receiving, and completing business directives such as price changes and ticketing.
- Prevent loss by educating staff, monitoring store activity, maintaining product protection standards, and partnering with Loss Prevention.
- Ensure merchandising standards follow visual direction, with compelling product presentation and store layout adaptations.
- Maintain appropriate product levels on the floor through planning and replenishment.
- Create a compelling customer experience by engaging staff in excellent service behaviors, ensuring fast checkout and exceeding customer expectations.
- Managing with integrity, honesty, and fostering an inclusive, engaged culture.
- Using good judgment, making decisions with appropriate partners.
- Modeling and enforcing policies, providing guidance to staff.
- Developing a customer service mindset, resolving issues satisfactorily.
- Maintaining operational standards, proper signage, and merchandise presentation.
- Adjusting resources to support customer needs and workload demands.
- Assessing KPIs to inform business decisions and improve store results.
- Managing talent through hiring, training, development, and supervision.
- Handling multiple tasks within time frames.
- Training staff on policies, procedures, and safety standards.
- Other responsibilities as assigned.
- Must be 18+ years old.
- Experience supervising 20+ associates, including performance and employment decisions.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong decision-making and problem-solving abilities.
- People management and talent development skills.
- Flexible availability including days, nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Experience in retail, preferably in management.
- Supervising 50+ associates, including performance management.
- College degree or equivalent experience (3-4 years in retail or similar industry).
