Job Summary The Accounting Manager oversees day-to-day accounting operations and supervises a team of 3–5 accounting professionals at AWR’s corporate headquarters in Hutto, Texas. This role supports the Controller by coordinating the accounting close, maintaining accurate financial records, and ensuring strong execution of core accounting processes across AP/AR, inventory, fixed assets, and compliance. The position is a hands‑on leader within a manufacturing and logistics environment and is critical to the integrity, timeliness, and continuous improvement of AWR’s accounting operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Oversee daily accounting operations to ensure accurate, timely processing and strong internal controls across core workflows.
- Oversee daily AP and AR activities to ensure timely and accurate processing.
- Monitor aging reports and support cash collection efforts.
- Ensure reliable team reporting regarding expected cash flows.
- Prepare weekly and monthly cash reporting schedules for Controller review.
- Provide visibility into short-term cash requirements and timing.
- Coordinate monthly inventory reconciliations.
- Support accurate inventory valuation and reporting in alignment with established policies.
- Maintain fixed asset records, including additions, disposals, and depreciation.
- Assist with annual fixed asset roll‑forward schedules.
- Coordinate timely preparation and filing of applicable tax forms, including sales and use tax, 1099 reporting, and heavy highway use tax (Form 2290).
- Coordinate month‑end close activities and timelines.
- Review balance sheet reconciliations prepared by the accounting team for accuracy and completeness.
- Improve close checklists, documentation standards, and process rigor.
- Support accounting workflows related to fleet maintenance systems.
- Assist the Controller with monthly financial statement preparation and supporting schedules.
- Ensure accuracy, completeness, and adherence to accounting policies and GAAP‑aligned practices.
- 5+ years of professional accounting experience.
- Working knowledge of GAAP and month‑end close processes.
- Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Ability to work onsite at the corporate headquarters (Hutto, TX).
- Ability to sit, stand, and work at a computer for extended periods.
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Prior experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff.
- Experience in manufacturing, inventory accounting, and/or cost accounting.
- Experience with enterprise accounting and ERP systems; familiarity with Infor Syteline (Cloud Suite Industrial) helpful but not required.
- Experience with related tools/systems such as fleet maintenance platforms and payroll/corporate card systems (e.g., AMCS Dossier, Paycom), or comparable systems (Net Suite, SAP, Oracle, Microsoft Dynamics, Epicor, Sage, or similar).
- Experience using Microsoft SharePoint or similar document management/collaboration tools.
- Onsite role based at AWR’s corporate headquarters in Hutto, TX (Austin area).
- Primarily office‑based with regular computer work; coordination with operations/accounting stakeholders in a manufacturing and logistics environment.
