Previous experience and knowledge of large ag equipment or commercial/turf equipment is welcomed but not required. General Purpose

The Future Student Technician is responsible for learning in the dealership before expanding classroom learning through hands-on experience at AVE-PLP as part of their school’s curriculum. The Future Student Technicians are students enrolled in an Ag Diesel program at a technical school or community college and are selected to be sponsored by AVE-PLP while attending school. The Future Student Technician reports to the Service Manager.

  • Learns from the Service Technicians how to deal with real customers who need their equipment fixed correctly and in a timely matter.
  • Adheres to dealership work hours, policies, procedures, and rules governing professional staff behavior.
  • Adheres to dealership and professional ethics governing the handling of confidential information.
  • Assumes personal responsibility for his/her actions and activities.
  • Maintains professional relationships with dealership employees, clients, and customers.
  • Develops a self-awareness of attitudes, values, and behavior patterns that influence the work environment.
  • Participates in training opportunities that are offered by the dealership.
  • Completes work assignments in a thorough, consistent, and punctual manner.
  • Performs other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of AVE-PLP.

Qualifications Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to consistently promote, support, work, and act in a manner in support of AVE-PLP’s DNA.
  • Excellent customer relationship skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with customers, employees, and peers.
  • Ability to use standard desktop load applications such as Microsoft Office and internet functions.
Education
  • High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED) equivalent is required.
Experience
  • One year of customer service experience is preferred.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted on a year for year basis.
Additional Requirements/Licenses/Certifications
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have and maintain a valid driver’s license.
  • Passing a driving record (MVR), criminal history background checks, employment verification, and drug screen will be required prior to the start of employment.

  • Occasional outdoor work in extreme weather conditions (hot/cold); walking on uneven terrain; occasional exposure to insects.
  • Regular and long-term exposure to work areas containing toxic/caustic/hazardous/volatile chemicals; extreme conditions such as hot/cold; sharp hazards; dust/fumes/gasses; electrical shock; moving mechanical parts; high pitched and/or constant loud noise.
  • Work may involve assisting with sampling, calibration of equipment and process instruments calibration / maintenance in difficult areas.
