Position: Instructor of Mathematics (FAC3072) - In person
RESPONSIBILITIES:

Essential Functions
- * Teach in-person courses in mathematics. Course schedule will vary from semester to semester and may include a combination of Contemporary Math, Algebra, Trigonometry, Statistics and/or Calculus. Optional assignments may include evening courses and teaching via alternative delivery systems, such as online.

* Assist in selecting textbooks, developing curricula, completing reports, tracking and entering assessment data.

* Participate in student recruitment for the Math & Science department

* Plan, revise, and update curricula.

* Maintain skills in teaching methods and course development as recommended by Hutch

CC.

* Participate, as possible, in faculty development activities at the college and within state and regional organizations.

* Maintain records and files as requested by the department and/or Vice President of Academic Affairs.

* Arrive on time for work, attend work regularly, and successfully complete the responsibilities of the position.

* Comply with Hutch

CC policies, procedures, and practices.

Secondary
- * May advise current and prospective students in proper curricula.

* Perform other responsibilities as assigned by the Department Chairperson or the Vice President of Academic Affairs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

* Master's degree in Mathematics or Mathematics Education or Master's degree with a minimum of 18 graduate hours in Mathematics required; doctorate degree considered.

* Evidence of effective teaching experience in mathematics at the high school and/or collegiate level preferred.

* Mathematics technology/computer literacy preferred.

* Ability to teach basic math skills, incorporate adult learning theory, and develop teaching/learning strategies to improve student persistence and retention.

* Ability and willingness to teach via alternative delivery systems including online and/or other distance education modes.

* Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with staff, students, faculty and other Hutch

CC stakeholders.

* Ability to communicate effectively with individuals from diverse ethnic, racial, socioeconomic, gender and disabilities populations.

* Ability to maintain confidentiality in a student-centered environment.

* Physical requirements include excellent written, verbal and listening communication skills; ability to understand words and respond effectively and appropriately; visual acuity to view a computer terminal; use appropriate judgment and to apply tact and courtesy in difficult situations; light/Indoor work environment

* Mental requirements include the ability to learn and comprehend basic instructions about the position.

SALARY and STATUS:

The salary is commensurate with qualifications as determined by the  Master Agreement Hiring Schedule. This full-time faculty position is 9-months annual, due process rights eligible, benefit eligible and exempt.
