ESSDACK is an educational service center seeking a Behavior Intervention Consultant with a strong background in general education intervention processes and practices who fosters the professional growth of others within and outside the organization.

KEY TASKS

Demonstrates knowledge of positive behavioral interventions and supports and works actively to build the capacity of faculty, staff, and parents in this area.

Integrate restorative practices and trauma-informed approaches into school-wide behavioral systems to foster a sense of safety, belonging, and social-emotional growth for all students.

Observe teachers and students to provide feedback and develop behavior plans.

Develop coaching plans to support teachers in improving student outcomes.

Assists school staff in supporting students in acute behavioral crisis.

Consults with GEI teams and interdisciplinary teams and serves as an ad hoc member of those teams.

Lead school districts in evaluating the effectiveness of current student management materials and practices.

Collaborate with school districts to align social/emotional curriculum with state and local standards.

Analyze district and school student behavior and wellness data.

Design and deliver a variety of professional development opportunities that model effective classroom management, restorative, and/or research-based practices, as well as take into account the needs of adult learners.

In-house and on-site face-to-face workshops.

Ongoing professional learning communities.

Virtually delivered instruction.

On-site and virtual coaching and consulting.

Collaborate with school/district personnel to design and implement practices resulting in systemic changes.

Demonstrates knowledge and understanding of other services, both within and outside the school, available to students and their families.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES AND EXPECTATIONS

Collaborate with colleagues as needed to meet organizational and/or customer-driven goals.

Contribute to the success of the organization by cooperatively interacting with other staff, meeting established deadlines, and voluntarily offering talents and expertise for the good of the organization.

Serve as a resource for schools/districts by remaining aware of current educational research, legislative matters, and other pertinent issues.

Actively participate in, lead, and promote organizational initiatives.

Develop effective collaborative working relationships with external agencies. (i.e. KSDE, professional organizations, universities, educational service, non-profits, etc.)

Submit bills for services rendered in a timely manner.

Maintain a current calendar that depicts work-related activities on a shareable digital calendar.

Comply with all organizational policies as outlined in the current employee policy handbook.

Contributing individual actions to organizational or team WIG goals.

Exhibit anabolic energy and leadership.

Any and all other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE, ABILITIES, AND SKILLS

Must hold a Kansas Teaching License. Experience and/or a degree in Special Education preferred.

Previous experience in implementing and evaluating effective curriculum design, instructional strategies, and the use of assessments.

Demonstrated ability to implement best practices and the motivation to set and achieve high performance levels.

Demonstrated ability to coordinate and deliver effective professional development.

Desire to continue career improvement by enhancing job skills and performance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Regularly required to talk and hear.

Frequently required to stand, walk, and reach.

Occasionally lift office products and supplies, up to 40 pounds.
