Job SummaryOrganizes and conducts medically prescribed physical therapy programs in the hospital and its outreach services to restore function and prevent disability following disease, injury, or loss of a body part; helps the patient reach his/her maximum performance and assume a place in society while learning to live within the limits of his/her capabilities.
Requirements- Baccalaureate, Master's or Doctorate Degree with satisfactory completion of the physical therapist training program in an accredited school of physical therapy.
- Current South Dakota licensure as a physical therapist.
- Physical stamina requisite to lift, carry and/or otherwise move and manipulate the equipment used in evaluation and treatment.
- Physical stamina requisite to standing, walking, stooping, pulling, pushing and lifting while transporting or transferring patients and performing treatments.
- Visual, auditory and speech acuity requisite to verbal and written communication with patients, families, physicians and other persons involved with the patient’s care.
- Work involves almost constant one to one contact with patients.
- Work is intermittently light (exerting/lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally, up to 10 pounds frequently, or a negligible amount constantly) to moderately heavy (exerting/lifting up to 50 pounds occasionally, up to 20 pounds frequently and 10 pounds constantly) or heavy (exerting/lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally, up to 50 pounds frequently and 20 pounds constantly) and is usually performed inside in a well lit, heated air conditioned space.
