- The ability to teach traditional (lab‑based) and online undergraduate and graduate courses is expected.
- The successful applicant will contribute to our growing undergraduate research program.
- The applicant is expected to help with improving the Mechanical Engineering Technology and M.S. in Engineering Technology and Management programs including further development of lab and teaching resources, curriculum development, and contribute to ABET accreditation.
- An earned Doctorate degree (ABD completed by August 2026 will also be considered) in Mechanical Engineering/Technology or other closely related fields.
- Applicants with a strong academic background in the broad area of mechanical engineering, including mechanical design, manufacturing systems, and thermodynamics with desired areas of expertise in thermal fluids and energy systems are welcome.
- Additional responsibilities may include serving as a liaison with the College of the Department of Engineering Technology at SHSU.
- The new academic building – Fred Pirkle Engineering Technology Center – houses faculty offices, classrooms, CAD/CAM, electronics, rapid prototyping, innovation, material testing, and alternative energy labs.
- The department also maintains the Westmoreland Engineering Technology Center and Annex A, B, and C buildings which house the virtual reality, safety, woodworking, metalworking, CNC, material testing, and fluid power labs.
