Overview
Special Education Teacher (Life Skills) – $46/hr – Huntsville, TX – Full-Time
Amergis is seeking a Special Education Teacher (Life Skills) to provide quality services to special education students. Under the direction of the Special Education Program Administrator, the Special Education Teacher will support students through specialized instruction and active participation in the planning and implementation of individualized student programs. This role requires strong collaboration with general education staff to promote student success.

Elementary, Life Skills (Self-Contained) - Duties:
- Provide specialized instruction in a Life Skills classroom
- Participate in planning and implementation of IEPs
- Provide tutorial assistance as needed
- Consult and collaborate with general education and special education staff

- Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited university (preferred)
- Valid state teaching certificate as required by state regulations
- Special Education certification reflecting Elementary grade levels
- Generalist or Core certification reflecting Elementary grade levels (preferred)
- If not held, must have 5+ years of experience as a Special Education Teacher with Life Skills (self-contained) classroom experience
- Minimum of one year teaching experience (preferred)
- State Teacher Certification (preferred types: Standard Elementary, Standard Secondary, Standard Special Teaching)
- Endorsement:
Learning Behavior Specialist (LBS1) (preferred) - Current CPR certification (if applicable)
- TB screening and health clearance as required
- Must meet all federal, state, and local requirements
- Must be at least 18 years of age
