Job Overview

Rogers Group Inc. is currently seeking an Experienced CDL Dump Truck driver for the Huntsville, AL / North Alabama operations area, Alabama SMA. The successful candidate will lead safety, quality, and revenue generation throughout our existing operations and help expand additional operations through growth.

Job Responsibilities
  • Drive a truck equipped with dump body to transport and dump loose materials such as sand, gravel, crushed rock, or bituminous paving materials.
  • Check vehicle to ensure it is safe to operate (tires, headlights, marker lights, stop lights, turn signals, engine oil, power steering fluid, coolant level, fan belts, windshield wipers).
  • Operate vehicle in a safe and professional manner regardless of location, speed limit, and traffic.
  • Obey state and federal trucking laws.
  • Exhibit defensive driving skills.
  • Obey weight limits when loading truck.
  • Keep floorboards, stepping areas, and handholds free of trash, grease, rags or other obstructions that hinder operation.
  • Operate controls for tarping load and strapping tarp, and tarps all loads regardless of material.
  • Operate bed controls for raising/lowering dump bed and third axle.
  • Hook and adjust tailgate spreader chains for tailgating material.
  • Manually clean tailgate and apron after unloading.
  • Keep inside of bed clean of buildup of materials.
  • Use lower gears when starting vehicle in motion.
  • Double-clutch when changing gears.
  • Monitor dash gauges (oil, temperature, air, tachometer, speedometer, amperage, and pyrometer).
  • Monitor conditions to the sides and rear of vehicle via rear-view mirrors and spot mirrors.
  • Constantly monitor company radio for changes of assignment and dispatch.
  • Submit daily logs that comply with company, state, and federal regulations.
  • Complete and submit a daily truck report.
  • Inspect vehicle for defects and notify management via Driver Daily Report; do not drive vehicle with known defect that could cause injury or property damage.
Qualifications
  • Extreme amount of body movement and manual labor, including leg movement, engaging/disengaging clutch, depressing brake and accelerator pedals, climbing onto bed, wrist and arm movement, changing gears, steering, neck movement, digging materials, and assisting crews with general labor.
  • Adhere to all company, client, and project policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Answer directly to the Trucking Supervisor.
  • Must be regularly able to sit, use hands, reach with hands and arms, talk or hear.
  • Frequent climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, bending, twisting, crouching, crawling, and occasional standing and walking.
  • Lift and/or move up to 25 lbs, frequently up to 50 lbs, and occasionally up to 100 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities: close, distance, peripheral, depth perception, focus adjustment, and ability to recognize traffic signal colors.
  • Occasional exposure to moving mechanical parts, fumes, airborne particles, outside weather, and vibration.
  • Moderate noise level in work environment.
  • Occasionally required to work long hours (10‑12 hours per day, up to 15 hours).
  • Maintain a valid CDL license.
  • Adhere to company policy for a current Medical Examiner's Certificate.
  • Minimum of 2 years truck driving experience preferred; experience with trucks equipped with third axle.
  • Ability to add and subtract two‑digit numbers.
  • Apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
