Avionics Mechanic CH

Role Overview

The Avionics Mechanic installs and repairs electrical parts, units and components on aircraft.

• Install units, parts, equipment, and components in avionics assembly according to blueprints and specifications.
• Fabricate and assemble prototype equipment for a variety of military aircraft and familiarize with military technical manuals, orders, and blueprints.
• Coordinate with project engineer personnel throughout the project and provide technical assistance to project engineers.
• Service, repair, and overhaul aircraft to ensure airworthiness.
• Repair, replace, and rebuild aircraft components (e.g., wiring harnesses, power distribution systems, communication/navigation systems) using hand tools, power tools, machines, soldering irons and connector installation tools.
• Read and interpret maintenance manuals, technical manuals, FAA FARs, and commercial aircraft manuals.
• Service batteries to keep aircraft in safe operating conditions.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical or Military School Training preferred.

• Four years direct experience in avionics maintenance, primarily in the military aviation field or appropriate military occupation specialty training.

Any combination of education/experience may be substituted for job requirements at the recommendation of the hiring manager and approval of the COO or higher.
