Position SummaryThe primary purpose of the Assistant Store Manager is to assist the Store Manager in maintaining daily store operations, ensuring maximum sales and profitability through merchandising, managing expenses and inventory, training and developing staff, human resources management, and delivering outstanding customer service.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Oversee the quality and performance of the retail store staff.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures.
- Lead effectively to motivate the team towards store goals and standards.
- Assist with recruitment, selection, training, and development of store personnel.
- Support Store Manager in conducting performance evaluations.
- Help manage expenses and develop strategies to meet budget goals.
- Monitor store for issues related to loss or inventory discrepancies to meet shrinkage goals.
- Maintain operational compliance, safety, and business standards.
- Support training in selling and merchandising techniques.
- Uphold customer service standards to ensure a friendly environment.
- Assist with merchandise inventory counts.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Note:
A standard work week does not exceed 40 hours. Flexibility for days, nights, weekends, and holidays is required.
Education and Experience
- Minimum of one (1) year in retail management.
- Strong knowledge of business operations and excellent communication skills.
- High interpersonal skills, tact, and diplomacy.
- Strategic thinking, planning, and organizational skills.
- Professionalism in all situations.
- Analytical skills for data gathering, problem-solving, and reporting.
- Results-driven with critical thinking and project management skills.
- Discretion, confidentiality, and independent judgment.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt to changing demands.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
- Willingness to work across multiple stores within the district.
- Stand for extended periods; lift up to 50 lbs.
- Work extended hours in a fast-paced environment.
- Reliable transportation and willingness to travel.
