Position Overview

Finance Analysts at Kiewit support major infrastructure construction projects and play a critical part in ensuring the financial health, accuracy, and performance of project operations. You’ll work closely with project leadership, engineers, and operations teams to provide financial insight, support decision‑making, and maintain strong cost controls on one of the district’s key marine and heavy‑civil projects.

Location

This position is based in Mobile, Alabama

Responsibilities
  • Track, analyze, and report project cost performance, including labor, equipment, materials, and subcontractor expenses.
  • Support monthly project forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
  • Prepare and maintain Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) cost codes and ensure accurate cost allocation.
  • Assist in developing and monitoring project cash flow projections.

Reporting & Analysis:

  • Produce timely and accurate financial reports for project leadership and district management.
  • Identify cost trends, risks, and opportunities, and recommend corrective actions when needed.
  • Support internal and external audits by preparing documentation and ensuring compliance with Kiewit financial standards.

Operational Support:

  • Partner with field teams to ensure accurate timekeeping, equipment tracking, and cost coding.
  • Review subcontractor invoices, purchase orders, and change orders for accuracy and alignment with project budgets.
  • Assist with month‑end close activities, including accruals and reconciliations.

Process Improvement:

  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives related to financial systems, reporting, and project controls.
  • Help implement best practices across the Bridge & Marine District to strengthen financial discipline and operational efficiency.
Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Construction Management, or related field.

Minimum 3‑5 years of relevant experience.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret financial data and communicate insights clearly.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel; experience with SAP or other ERP systems is beneficial.

Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams in a project‑based environment.

Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and a proactive mindset.

Willingness to work on‑site in Mobile, Alabama for the initial assignment, and relocate for future projects.
