Description

We are hiring a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) for the day shift at a psychiatric hospital. The RN will provide clinical oversight for day-to-day operations, deliver patient care in a therapeutic setting, administer IV medications, document nursing assessments, supervise mental health staff, and coordinate continuum of care.

Essential Functions
  • Perform comprehensive psychiatric nursing assessments and develop individualized care plans.
  • Administer IV medications, venipuncture, and other nursing interventions authorized by state law.
  • Document nursing notes and treatment plans in a clear, accurate, and current manner.
  • Supervise non‑employee nursing staff and evaluate clinical performance.
  • Provide patient and family education regarding medications, disease prevention, and basic living skills.
  • Ensure a safe therapeutic environment and adherence to infection control practices.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to patient care discussions.
Required Skills and Knowledge
  • Clinical experience in geriatrics or mental health nursing (minimum 1 year).
  • Proficiency in IV administration, fluid/electrolyte balance, blood components, and venipuncture.
  • Knowledge of seclusion and restraint policies and ability to recognize physiological distress.
  • Excellent communication and conflict de‑escalation skills for potentially violent patients.
  • Understanding of federal and state regulations regarding patient rights, abuse, neglect, and infection control.
  • Proficiency with standard office software (Excel, Word, Outlook) and ability to learn HRIS/scheduling systems.
Licensing and Certification
  • Registered Nurse, current state license.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Current CPI certification.
Physical and Safety Requirements
  • Frequent lifting up to 40 lb.
  • Standing, walking, bending, kneeling, pushing and pulling.
  • Work in an environmental control hospital setting.
