Healthcare Nursing, Nurse Practitioner
The nurse practitioner provides comprehensive direct patient care and scholarly practice, including obtaining patient histories, performing physical examinations, ordering diagnostic tests, diagnosing illnesses, prescribing treatments, and promoting health through education and counseling. The NP also supports indirect care responsibilities such as staff and student education, clinical research, program development, and quality improvement.
QualificationsEducation: Master of Science in Nursing from an accredited institution required. Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification preferred.
Licenses, Certifications, and/or Registrations: Successful completion of a National Certification Exam for NP, current registration with the Alabama Board of Nursing and Board of Medical Examiners, and approval from the Huntsville Hospital credentialing board. Pediatric Nurse Practitioner certification preferred.
Experience: Minimum of 3 years full-time pediatric RN and/or CRNP experience preferred.
Additional Skills/Abilities: BLS required before the end of orientation; PALS required within the first 6 months of employment.
