Overview
The Youth Pastor is responsible for providing spiritual, strategic, and organizational leadership for the youth ministry of Farley Community Church. This role oversees fellowship, worship, biblical teaching, discipleship, and evangelism for middle school and high school students. The Youth Pastor will cast vision for youth ministry consistent with FCC’s mission and values and will partner with parents, volunteers, and church leadership to disciple students into lifelong followers of Jesus Christ.
The Youth Pastor is expected to be actively present in the lives of students within church, school, and community contexts. This role seeks to cultivate an environment where students experience belonging, understand and believe the gospel, and grow into mature disciples who love and serve Christ and others.
- Hold or be actively pursuing a bachelor’s degree, preferably in Christian Ministry, Theology, or a related field, with demonstrated experience in youth ministry
- Demonstrate a clear calling and gifting for youth ministry, including a passion for evangelism, outreach, and discipleship
- Possess strong leadership, relational, and communication skills with youth, parents, volunteers, and staff
- Be a self-motivated leader capable of casting vision, implementing strategy, and working independently with minimal supervision
- Exhibit strong administrative, organizational, and time-management abilities
- Demonstrate the ability to research and engage the local community using demographics, technology, and social media to reach unchurched youth
- Work collaboratively as a team member with FCC staff, committees, elders, and congregation
- Show proven ability to teach, mentor, and train youth toward spiritual maturity
- Model obedience to Scripture and maintain a consistent, prayer-centered spiritual life
- Possess a clear testimony of a saving, sanctifying, and growing relationship with Jesus Christ and a recognized call to ministry
- Publicly profess faith in Jesus Christ and pursue a growing relationship with God through prayer, Scripture, and spiritual disciplines
- Commit to ongoing spiritual, personal, and professional development through reading, training resources, classes, conferences, and seminars (minimum annually)
- Model Christlike character and conduct in speech, actions, and relationships
- Represent the vision, mission, and values of FCC in person and on social media platforms
- Maintain healthy, respectful working relationships with church staff and volunteers
- Uphold confidentiality regarding counseling matters, financial records, personnel issues, and personal information of congregational members
- Perform all duties in accordance with the bylaws, policies, and doctrinal standards of Farley Community Church
- Ministry Leadership and Discipleship:
Provide leadership and oversight for all aspects of FCC’s youth ministry in alignment with church goals and vision - Model and promote a Christ-centered lifestyle among students
- Establish and maintain meaningful pastoral relationships with youth to maximize spiritual impact
- Provide biblical teaching, counseling, and spiritual direction to youth and families as needed
- Outreach and Community Engagement:
Build and lead a growing youth ministry team, including parents and student leaders - Actively engage unchurched youth within Farley and surrounding communities
- Develop and maintain relationships with public and private schools, youth organizations, and community leaders
- Equip and mobilize students to share their faith and disciple others within their spheres of influence
- Programming and Integration:
Plan, prepare, and lead effective youth programming, including Weekly middle school and high school gatherings, Monthly fellowship or outreach events, Outreach initiatives, Annual summer camp and/or mission trips, Integrate youth ministry into the broader life of the church to foster an intentionally intergenerational culture, Collaborate with church staff to develop new ministries as needed - Administration and Communication:
Prepare, manage, and oversee the annual youth ministry budget as approved by church leadership - Manage student fees, fundraising activities, and mission trip finances responsibly
- Maintain consistent communication with students and parents regarding events, vision, and ministry plans
- Encourage parent involvement and partnership in youth discipleship
- Participate in staff meetings, individual meetings, council meetings, and other required leadership meetings
- Pastoral and Church Involvement:
Attend and participate in regular and special church services - Support parents in their Christian parenting roles in coordination with other pastoral staff
- Perform baptisms, weddings, funerals, hospital visits, and follow-up pastoral care as assigned
- Attend meetings as requested by the Personnel Committee and Elders
- Perform additional duties as assigned by the Church Pastors and Elders
