Job Summary
The Solder Repair Operator will be responsible for reworking SMT and PTH components, performing wire modifications to PCB assemblies to meet quality standards, and performing modifications per written or verbal instructions. This role will ensure Q50 and IPC-A-610 quality standards are met for ADTRAN products.
Duties And Responsibilities
- Rework SMT and PTH components.
- Clean and maintain solder equipment.
- Perform wire modifications to PCB assemblies in accordance with IPC-A-610 and Q50 quality standards.
- Perform modifications per Engineering Change Orders or written/verbal instructions.
- Inspect components and identify common component and soldering defects, improper use of flux, and PCB cleaning issues.
- Modify and repair products following applicable documentation and procedures.
- Perform detailed work on printed circuit boards (PCBs).
- Operate and maintain SMT repair station equipment, including ADTRAN Solder Level 2, X-Ray, BGA repair, and IR (Infrared) Machines.
- Remove and replace PTH components (resistors, capacitors, diodes, ICs, transistors, switches, fuses, connectors, transformers, inductors, LEDs) and SMT components (discrete, gullwing, and J Lead components).
- Utilize work process sheets with diagrams, photos, and instructions, along with personal judgment, to rework product units per ADTRAN procedures.
- Ensure workmanship and product quality.
- Work on multiple assignments and recognize deviations from accepted practices.
- Maintain prompt and regular attendance.
- Perform other duties as needed to ensure quality and accuracy.
No travel is expected in this position.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED.
- Basic Microsoft Office skills.
- Physical activities requiring use of arms, legs, and whole-body movement, including standing for extended periods, lifting up to 35 pounds regularly, and over 35 pounds with assistance.
- Manual dexterity for precise movements with small objects.
- Ability to reach with hands and arms, climb, balance, stoop, kneel, and crouch as needed.
- Ability to interpret instructions, warnings, and safety hazards, and communicate effectively in English.
- Exposure to solder fumes; safety gear provided.
Preferred Qualifications
- Ability to identify components and correct polarity.
- Soldering skills for fine pitch components, QFNs, wire modifications.
- 5+ years of surface mount solder experience.
- Experience in electronic or mechanical manufacturing.
- Experience with BGA repair or IR machines preferred.
- ERP software experience preferred.
