The Production Control Planner is responsible for developing and maintaining production plans that support customer delivery requirements while maximizing available company resources. This role coordinates closely with production, engineering, procurement, quality, and program management to ensure materials, documentation, and schedules are aligned to deliver high-quality products on time.
This position is fully on-site in Huntsville, AL.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and manage production plans based on customer need dates and available resources
- Build and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs) in Excel and ERP/MRP systems
- Create routings, shop routers, and work order travelers
- Generate purchase requests and coordinate material requirements
- Create material transfer sheets for outsourced parts and customer critical needs
- Ensure all parts, documentation, and paperwork align with BOM requirements and are properly allocated to departments supporting the production schedule
- Monitor manufacturing operations to ensure delivery commitments and quality standards are met
- Coordinate with Program Management and Material Management to disposition residual inventory
- Work with procurement to resolve open purchase orders, material shortages, and expedite requests
- Ensure work order travelers are complete, closed, and properly filed
- Determine disposition of non-conforming material in coordination with Quality Assurance and Manufacturing
- Support quality investigations related to customer complaints and returned goods
- Provide production status updates and reports to management as needed
- Participate in meetings with Government customers or prime contractors
- Occasionally lift up to 25 pounds, as required
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- 8+ years of progressive experience in production planning or production control
- DoD manufacturing experience strongly preferred
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel required)
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings
- Experience in mechanical and/or electrical manufacturing environments
- Strong working knowledge of inventory control, scheduling, manufacturing processes, and material management
- Hands-on experience with Costpoint ERP/MRP (required)
- Experience with Dynafact manufacturing scheduling software preferred
