The Senior Operations Manager – Data Center Contract Logistics is responsible for leading and overseeing logistics and site-support operations within a mission-critical data center environment under a contract logistics model. This role ensures operational excellence, contract compliance, service level attainment, and strong client partnership while supporting site launches, expansions, and multi-site operations. The position acts as the primary operational interface between the client, internal support functions, and third-party service providers.
Responsibilities- Contract Operations & Client Management
- Lead day-to-day contract logistics operations supporting data center activities, ensuring strict adherence to contractual obligations, SLAs, KPIs, and scope of work.
- Serve as the primary point of contact for client operational leadership, fostering a strong partnership built on transparency, responsiveness, and trust.
- Translate client requirements into operational execution, staffing plans, and process design.
- Support contract renewals, scope changes, and RFP responses by providing operational input and performance data.
- Site Operations & Service Delivery
- Oversee logistics and site-support activities including material handling, asset movement, inventory control, receiving, staging, kitting, secure storage, and shipping in a high-security data center environment.
- Ensure operations are executed in compliance with site access controls, security protocols, and client policies.
- Lead daily operational reviews, performance reporting, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Multi-Site Leadership & Standardization
- Provide operational leadership and governance across multiple data center client sites.
- Standardize processes, metrics, and reporting across locations to ensure consistency and scalability.
- Support cross-site resource planning, best-practice sharing, and performance benchmarking.
- People Leadership & Workforce Management
- Lead and develop site operations managers, supervisors, and frontline teams across locations.
- Ensure appropriate staffing models to meet contract volumes and service levels, including shift coverage for 24/7 operations.
- Partner with HR to manage hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and employee relations.
- Promote a strong culture of safety, accountability, and client service.
- Safety, Security & Compliance
- Ensure compliance with client security requirements, safety standards, and regulatory obligations.
- Maintain audit readiness related to security, safety, and contract compliance.
- Lead incident response, root cause analysis, and corrective actions related to operational, safety, or security events.
- Financial & Vendor Management
- Own operational cost management for the contract, including labor, equipment, and third-party services.
- Monitor contract profitability and support cost optimization initiatives.
- Manage subcontractors and vendors in alignment with client and contract requirements.
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, accuracy, and service quality.
- Leverage Lean, Six Sigma, or similar methodologies to drive measurable improvements.
- Proactively propose value-added services and innovation opportunities to the client.
- Site Launch & Expansion Support
- Lead and support new data center site launches and contract mobilizations, including operational readiness, staffing, training, and go-live execution.
- Partner with the client, construction teams, IT, facilities, security, and HR to ensure seamless transition from build to operational support.
- Establish and deploy standard operating procedures (SOPs), work instructions, and training materials aligned with client requirements.
- Provide post-launch stabilization support and drive lessons-learned reviews across the contract network.
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Engineering, or related field (required)
