Processing Technician - Lab- PT- 2nd Shift

Overview

Central Processing Technician 1- - PT- 2nd Shift — Huntsville Hospital. Provides technical support to the lab by receiving/processing requisitions/specimens and ordering specified lab tests according to standard operating procedures. Responds to phone requests and enters lab test data into computer.

• Receive and process requisitions and specimens according to SOPs.
• Order specified lab tests and enter results into the computer.
• Respond to phone requests related to laboratory testing.

• Education:
  
  High School diploma or GED required. Education preferred:
  Associate s Degree with a minimum of 6 semester hours of chemistry and 6 semester hours of biology.
• License, certification and/or registration: MLA certification from a nationally recognized credentialing agency (e.g. ASCP or AMT) preferred.
• Experience:
  
  Previous work experience strongly preferred. Keyboarding experience, 40 wpm preferred.
• Additional Skills/Abilities:
  Excellent communication skills; ability to work in fast-paced, customer service oriented environment; ability to prioritize and handle changing tasks; maintain confidentiality in handling patient information; ability to work in high stress environment; team-oriented; absolute integrity and accuracy in patient identification; shift end time may vary with workload.
