Within our Retail locations, Pharmacy Technicians play a critical role in supporting our pharmacy teams to consistently deliver on our brand promise.
As a Technician, you will support the pharmacy team in delivering operational and service excellence within your store. Technicians are often the first point of contact to assist patients and customers and help deliver an exceptional experience. They ensure that pharmacy operations run smoothly, prescriptions are filled promptly, safely, and accurately, and that caring service exceeds patient expectations. Technicians operate as part of the pharmacy team through consistent application of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), best practices, and effective communication.
Throughout their shifts and in all customer and colleague interactions, they demonstrate genuine care and contribute to a safe and inclusive culture.
- Follow all company SOPs at each workstation to help Pharmacists manage and improve patient health.
- Follow pharmacy workflow procedures at each workstation (production, pick‑up, drive‑thru, drop‑off) for safe and accurate prescription fulfillment.
- Contribute to positive patient experiences by showing empathy and genuine care: create heartfelt and personalized moments while serving patients; offer immunizations and other services; solve or elevate patient problems.
- Complete basic inventory activities as permitted by law and directed by leadership, such as accurately putting away medication deliveries and completing cycle counts, returns‑to‑stocks, and waiting bin inventories.
- Contribute to a high‑performing team, embrace a growth mindset, seek opportunities to expand clinical and technical knowledge.
- Remain flexible for scheduling and business needs, optionally traveling to stores in the market to work shifts as required.
- Understand and comply with all relevant federal, state, and local laws, regulations, professional standards, and ethical principles. Comply with CVS policies to ensure patient safety, controlled‑substance dispensing, record‑keeping, and privacy.
- Deliver additional patient health care services (immunizations, point‑of‑care testing, and voluntary staffing at offsite clinics) when permissible by law and supported by training.
- Complete additional licensure and training to obtain Technician Immunizer status for vaccine preparation and administration.
- Educate patients about the importance of vaccines and refer questions to the Pharmacist‑on‑duty.
- Monitor and respond to adverse reactions; report events per public health requirements.
- Review, collect, and document patient information for each applicable vaccination.
- Monitor and manage vaccine supplies.
- Comply with state board of pharmacy requirements or laws governing the practice of pharmacy, including age, education, and licensure/certification.
- State‑level licensure and national certification requirements vary by state.
- If required, be at least 16 years of age and have a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Regular and predictable attendance, including nights and weekends.
- Complete required training within the designated timeframe.
