Objective
This position is responsible for supervising and performing the daily services provided to the residents of the licensed Assisted Living and Memory Care programs at Regency Retirement Village.
Responsibilities include:
- Manage the unit to ensure all residents are safe, receive medication management, and care
- Ensure appropriate resident assistance with activities of daily living in accordance with Alabama rules and regulations for licensed assisted living facilities
- Manage direct care staff including assignments of care and completion of tasks
- Train, coach, and develop ancillary staff and work with a multidisciplinary team to provide excellence in care
Nature and Qualifications
This position reports to the Assisted Living Service Coordinator or the Director and will work as part of the Assisted Living and Memory Care service team to implement ongoing health and service programs.
This position requires minimum qualifications as follows:
- A current AL L.P.N. License
- 18 years of age or older
- Ability to read, understand, communicate, and write English
- Ability to lift, walk, climb stairs, and perform other physical demands as required by residents’ needs
Organizational Responsibilities
Provide information to the Assisted Living or Memory Care Director, the Nursing Services Director, and other team members regularly.
Ensure residents and families are treated with dignity and respect at all times.
Support the SERVICE EXCELLENCE attitude of Regency Retirement and serve as a resource to the community for positive retirement housing and healthcare alternatives.
Responsibilities and Technical Duties
Resident Care Functions:
- Admit, transfer, and discharge residents as necessary; inform staff of new admissions/changes; communicate with residents and families as needed
- Visit daily with residents to observe and evaluate their physical and emotional status; monitor health-related treatments to ensure proper care and service
- Notify physicians of resident incidents and changes in condition
- Schedule and assist with daily resident care such as bathing, dressing, serving meals, and medication assistance
- Call, receive, and transcribe physician’s orders for residents as necessary
- Obtain and record admission and monthly weights; report results to the supervisor
Medication Assistance Functions:
- Prepare and administer or assist with medications and treatments ordered by the physician; verify resident identity; report medication discrepancies; order medications as needed; ensure adequate medication supplies and report needs to ALF Director
- Observe and document medication administration; maintain control and security of medication storage
- Monitor vital signs for residents on hypertensive medications
Service Program Functions:
- Ensure residents receive assistance with activities of daily living, including medication management, bathing, dressing, ambulation, dining, and personal care
- Supervise staff in assessment and care planning
Resident’s Rights Functions:
- Maintain confidentiality and privacy of residents
- Treat residents with kindness, respect, and dignity; comply with Resident’s Rights rules; report complaints and grievances promptly
Other Job Functions
Staff Development Functions:
- Participate in in-service training
- Provide leadership and guidance to staff; maintain professional competence and licenses through continuing education
