VP of Accounting and Finance

Marathon TS is seeking a VP of Accounting and Finance to support a federal client. The Vice President of Accounting and Finance is a key member of the Leadership Team and is responsible for overseeing the financial and accounting functions of the organization. This role crucial for ensuring the integrity of financial data, maintaining robust internal controls, and providing strategic insights that support the organization’s revenue‑generating business units.

The VP will ensure strict adherence to government contracting regulations (e.g., DCAA, FAR, CAS) and oversee compliance and audit readiness. The leader will implement best practices across the accounting and finance functions, streamline processes, and foster a collaborative environment to enhance overall organizational effectiveness and support the achievement of strategic business objectives.

• Oversee the finance and accounting functions of the organization.

• Leverage advanced skills to analyze complex data, model scenarios, and generate critical reports.
• Ensure strict adherence to government contracting regulations (e.g., DCAA, FAR, CAS) and oversee compliance and audit readiness.
• Implement best practices, streamline processes, and foster a collaborative environment to enhance overall organizational effectiveness and support strategy.

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance. Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) or CPA certification highly preferred.
• 10-15 years of progressive experience in accounting and finance, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
• Demonstrable experience overseeing information technology functions, including strategic planning, infrastructure management, and system implementations.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel (pivot tables, VLOOKUP/HLOOKUP/INDEX/MATCH, conditional formatting, data validation, financial modeling).
• Extensive experience with government contracting accounting and DCAA/FAR/CAS requirements.
• Proven experience managing all aspects of the accounting cycle, including general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, and financial reporting.
• Strong understanding of financial consolidation systems (Onestream) and accounting software or ERP (Deltek Costpoint).
• Excellent strategic thinking, problem‑solving, and decision‑making skills.
• Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and presentation skills.
• Proven ability to lead, mentor, and motivate high‑performing finance and accounting teams.
• Process improvement experience (Lean, Six Sigma) in accounting is a plus.
• Proactive, results‑oriented approach with a focus on financial integrity and compliance.
