Your greatest work is ahead! Leidos is seeking a talented Hypersonics Design Engineer to support multiple projects as part of the Advanced Materials Department.
Primary Responsibilities- The Hypersonics Design Engineer will work alongside other design engineers, structural analysis engineers, program management, and customers to oversee design and analysis of structures and mechanisms related to hypersonic vehicles.
- The position will be within a program team to manage the design and release of production-ready drawings of hypersonic vehicle structures, mechanisms, parts, subassemblies, and full system assemblies.
- Focus will be placed on engineering design and analysis for fabrication; integration of prototypes; development of components; and special test equipment.
- Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university and 5 years of experience.
- Design and Drafting – Proficient in industry CAD software (CREO, Solid Works) for both 3D modeling and 2D drawings.
- Tolerancing – Familiarity with Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T, per ASME Y14.5) and tolerance stack analysis.
- Design for Manufacturing and Inspection – Understanding of how tolerancing affects part manufacturing and inspection.
- Standards – Familiarity with ASME and ASTM material standards, MIL standards.
- TDPs – Experience contributing to TDPs according to MIL-STD-31000.
- Experience working within a product lifecycle management tool (Windchill).
- Candidate must be proficient using Microsoft Excel, Word, Project, and PowerPoint.
- Structural, thermal, or aero analytical experience.
- Strong understanding of hardware development, manufacturing, procurement, production, and integration.
- Experience working in a classified design/manufacturing environment.
- Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical or Aerospace Engineering is strongly preferred.
