The Manufacturing Facilities Engineer designs, reviews and implements new building and grounds improvements, upgrades, expansions, and repairs within our Huntsville, AL facility. Facilities Engineer analyzes material and labor costs, reviews contractor bid proposals, awards contracts, project manages the planning and execution, submits capital fund requests for future projects, and supervises the Facilities team. The Facilities Engineer works closely with the Environmental Engineer to plan the projects the Environmental Engineer identifies as necessary to follow applicable state and local environmental policies.
The Manufacturing Facilities Engineer is a part of the Maintenance and Facility team and is only peripherally involved in production/manufacturing projects and improvements.
Plan, prioritize, schedule, and manage Facilities projects (i.e. infrastructure repairs and upgrades, Electrical distribution system maintenance and studies,
Develop controls strategy for the building systems to improve response time and efficiency tracking.
Support the Environmental Engineer in implementing and monitoring energy conservation projects to reduce operating costs and minimize environmental impact.
Research, evaluate, and recommend new facilities equipment and tools to enhance the capabilities and function of the peripheral and ancillary machinery.
Create and propose building investment strategies and submit capital justifications as needed.
Participate in contract negotiations for all Service contracts as well as auditing the conduct of work under such contracts for HVAC, Fire Suppression, Air Compressors, Alarm systems, Security systems, Fuel storage and transport systems, outbuildings, groundskeeping, building construction and add-ons, janitorial services et al).
POC and responsible for all projects and works related to the building and grounds, partnered with Facilities Maintenance Manager for all facilities related decisions.
Main contact person for contractors performing interior design, structural engineering, architectural design and construction management services.
RequirementsBachelor's degree in mechanical, electrical, or industrial engineering.
3+ years of experience as a Facilities Engineer or in a similar role.
Experience with AutoCAD, SAP, and MS Office. Solid Works a plus.
Knowledge of the building process and construction principles. PE certification a plus.
Knowledge of relevant regulations and building codes.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
Waste Water reclamation and effluent discharge
Rooftop unit inspection and evaluation
