SUAS Specialist

Job Description General Summary

Participates in build, design, configuration, integration, maintenance, training, and test of small unmanned aircraft systems (sUAS).

• Participates in rapid prototyping for the design process for drones*
• Make recommendations for modification during the design process based on feedback from previous testing results to meet desired specifications.*
• Performs assembly of mechanical and electrical drones, integration and test, and buildup of assemblies & subassemblies*
• Uses a variety of machine shop tools and other items including CNC mills, 3D printers, etc.
• May use CAD tools to assist in designing models for drone assembly*
• Documents processes and build techniques *
• Provides technical support to stakeholders and troubleshoots issues*
• Assists in training and curriculum development
• Participates in testing, data collection and analysis*
• Prepares reports for leadership discussions on the process and recommends process improvement*
• Travel for field testing and/or project meetings may be required

• Associate’s degree in technical related field, or equivalent experience
• 2 or more years of experience in electrical/electronic assembly, equipment maintenance/repair, or related experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of electrical and mechanical components required
• Knowledge of CAD tools and 3D printing
• Previous experience reading schematic drawings and other manufacturing documentation.
• Willing and able to travel up to 10% for field testing or project meetings if necessary
• Must be able to obtain/maintain a Secret security clearance within 6 months of hire ; US Citizenship required

• Familiarity with drones and or Remote Control (R/C) experience preferred
• Previous experience working at a DoD contractor or aerospace environment
