Iron Mountain Solutions, Inc. is seeking an Aeromechanics CFD Engineer. This role is critical in shaping the future of vertical lift technology by applying advanced CFD to the analysis, design, and optimization of next-generation rotorcraft and aviation platforms. Candidates must be familiar with the entire aerodynamic design process, from conceptual studies through to flight test validation, including a deep understanding of rotorcraft, tiltrotor, or eVTOL aerodynamics.
Responsibilities:
- Perform aerodynamic design and high‑fidelity simulations of rotorcraft and/or eVTOL aircraft using advanced CFD methodologies.
- Support all phases of vehicle aerodynamic design, from conceptual and preliminary design through detailed design, flight testing, and certification.
- Develop, modify, and maintain complex, high‑fidelity CFD models for vehicle‑level performance analysis, including hover, climb, cruise, and transition flight phases.
- Correlate and validate CFD simulation results against data from wind tunnel experiments and full‑scale flight tests.
- Physical requirements include standing, walking, sitting, using tools or controls, and occasional lifting or moving office products up to 25 pounds.
Education and General
Experience:
- Bachelor of Science degree (technical preferred) from an accredited college with 3‑15+ years of direct experience in the task;
PhD preferred (preferably in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering). - Experience in the aerodynamic design and analysis of rotorcraft, tiltrotor, or eVTOL aircraft from conceptual design to certification.
- Experience with vehicle‑level performance analysis, innovative, physics‑based aerodynamics analysis and design methods, and aerodynamic shape optimization.
Additional
Experience:
Development and validation of high‑fidelity CFD models against experimental test data.
Security Clearance: Must currently hold or be eligible to obtain a U.S. SECRET Security Clearance for this position. Per federal requirements, only U.S. citizens are eligible for this level of clearance.
