Are we the road to your future?We are currently searching for an experienced Traffic/Transportation Engineer to support our Gulf Region group located in Birmingham, Huntsville, and Tuscaloosa, AL
.
To be considered for this position, applicants must have, at minimum, 5 years of traffic engineering and/or transportation planning experience.
What You’ll Be Doing- Perform routine aspects of assignments requiring knowledge and application of basic engineering principles
- Projects may include traffic operations analysis, traffic signal design, traffic signal timing development, corridor planning studies, transportation safety studies, roadway master planning, long‑range transportation planning, and transportation modeling (micro and macro)
- Assist the Project Manager in the development and design of projects
- Assist Service Line Manager in development of Engineering Interns
- Prepare engineering studies, documents, and reports
- B.S. or M.S. in Civil Engineering from an ABET accredited engineering program
- 5–10+ years of experience in traffic engineering and/or transportation planning
- Alabama PE License required
- PTOE, PTP, and/or RSP certifications are a plus
- Proficiency with traffic engineering and transportation planning practices and procedures
- Proficiency with Synchro, VISSIM, SIDRA, HCS, and Micro Station
- Familiarity with CUBE Voyager and Trans
CAD is a plus - Mastery of MS Office products
- Dependable with the ability to work independently, as well as part of a team to meet deadlines and provide high quality work
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening. Volkert adheres to federal guidelines, which may include testing for marijuana. Note that federal regulations may differ from state‑specific guidelines
- If applicable, a post‑offer fit‑for‑duty evaluation to ensure the individual can safely perform the essential functions of the role
- Valid driver’s license
- A satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR)
