Months/Years Of Experience Seven (7) years of applicable experience supporting engineering, design, or testing of hardware in the appropriate area of specialization; or three (3) years of applicable college/vocational/military/technical school and 4 years of applicable experience in the assigned specialty area; and the following additional requirements:
- Nondestructive Test (NDT) Technician - Must be certified (or capable of being certified within one year) to Level II or higher of the radiographic requirements of ASNT (TC1A) or equivalent.
- Environmental Systems Mechanic - Must possess EPA approved certification in proper refrigerant usage to include freon recovery units.
- Liquid Propellant Handling Technician - Must possess Hazardous Waste Operations and Emergency Response (HAZWOPER) training certification to handle liquid rocket engine propellants through the use of Level A protective suits and respiratory protection.
- Aviation Propulsion Technician - At least 6 years of the 7 years of experience must include successful completion of vocational/military/technical school training in military aviation maintenance and experience with a focus on propulsion systems and possess a valid FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) certification.
- Telemetry Technician - At least 6 years of the 7 years of experience must include supporting engineering/testing of systems in an aviation unit with 1 of those years including experience in radio frequency transmissions/telemetry/avionics.
- Designer - At least 6 years of the 7 years of experience must include electrical/mechanical engineering design, with 2 of those years in test fixture design; or an Associate's Degree in drafting or CAD or equivalent military training and 5 years of applicable experience.
- Mechanical - At least 6 years of the 7 years of experience must include vocational/military/technical school training in practical or industrial arts and a minimum of 4 years of experience in mechanical fabrication and structural/fixture setup supporting engineering or testing of military hardware.
- Instrumentation - Experience must include sixteen (16) weeks of civilian or military training in electronics or basic instrumentation techniques and a minimum of 4 years of experience in electronics/instrumentation supporting engineering or testing of military hardware.
Required Qualifications
Must be a U.S. Citizen and have or be able to obtain a DoD security clearance.
Skills Needed
This job requires good leadership and people skills with working knowledge of range safety. Working as Assistant Range Safety Officer brings the ability to research, analyze, and apply safe operating procedures - knowledge and experience in military weapons/missile systems/and lasers. Must have experience in applying Operational Procedures, Policies, and SOPs.
