Overview

Position Overview

We are excited to welcome an experienced Operations Manager to lead our precision machining and CNC programming operations supporting critical aerospace and defense manufacturing programs for the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD), NASA, and related industry partners. This is a key leadership role for someone who takes pride in craftsmanship, collaboration, and continuous improvement—and who enjoys building strong teams that deliver exceptional results.

In this role, you will oversee daily shop operations, guide talented machinists and programmers, and help drive the successful delivery of high-precision components that support mission-critical applications. If you thrive in a fast-paced, quality-driven environment and enjoy balancing hands-on technical expertise with strategic leadership, we'd love to talk with you.

Responsibilities
  • Lead and support daily shop floor operations, including production scheduling, tooling strategy, and material flow.
  • Inspire, mentor, and manage a team of machinists, CNC programmers, and technical staff with a strong focus on safety, quality, and productivity.
  • Champion lean manufacturing practices and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance efficiency and performance.
  • Develop, review, and refine advanced CNC programs for multi-axis machines using G-code and industry-standard CAD/CAM software such as Mastercam, Fusion 360, Siemens NX, or similar platforms.
  • Support first-article inspections, prototyping efforts, and full production runs of high-precision aerospace components.
  • Troubleshoot machining processes to optimize accuracy, cycle time, and tool life.
  • Analyze RFQs and engineering drawings to create accurate cost and time estimates.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, and business development teams to prepare competitive proposals for aerospace, defense, and government clients.
  • Provide technical input to proposal narratives, ensuring manufacturability and production capability are clearly communicated.
  • Track cost, schedule, and performance metrics across multiple active contracts.
  • Maintain documentation and ensure compliance with AS9100, ITAR, DFARS, and customer-specific quality requirements.
  • Support audits, customer reviews, and technical briefings as needed.
  • Build strong, professional relationships with government and commercial customers throughout the Huntsville aerospace community.
  • Represent the company during facility tours, technical discussions, and program reviews with DoD and NASA partners.
Qualifications

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Technology, or a related field.
  • 15+ years of experience in aerospace and/or defense manufacturing, including:
  • 10+ years in operations or manufacturing leadership roles
  • 5+ years managing production programs with responsibility for cost, schedule, and performance
  • Extensive hands-on knowledge of CNC machining, G-code programming, tooling, and production workflows.
  • Proficiency with CAD/CAM systems and familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Engineering Management or Business Administration.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Six Sigma certification (Green Belt or higher).
  • Active or prior security clearance (preferred).
  • Direct experience supporting NASA or DoD machining requirements.
Benefits
  • We offer a competitive compensation package that reflects your experience and expertise, including:
  • Competitive salary with performance-based bonus opportunities
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance
  • Retirement plan with employer match
  • Paid time off, holidays, and continuing education support
