Our markets include strategic missiles, missile defense, tactical systems and armaments, in addition to propulsion and power systems for launch vehicles, satellites, and other space vehicles.
We have an immediate need for a highly skilled and motivated Sr. Specialist, Maintainability and Product Support Engineer, to join our Missile Solutions Systems Engineering and Integration (SEI) team in Huntsville, AL.
This role will be focused on transportation and handling and ground support equipment of solid rocket motors.
Essential Functions- 40% – Design and Development – Design and Collaboration
- Lead the design and work closely with designers on the development of Ground Support Equipment (GSE), handling equipment, and transportation systems.
- Utilize CAD software and engineering tools to create detailed drawings, models, and specifications.
- Ensure that designs meet required specifications, industry standards, and safety regulations.
- 30% – Fabrication and Maintenance – Fabrication and Assembly Oversight
- Oversee and coordinate the fabrication, assembly, delivery, and inspection of handling equipment (HE), GSE, and transportation systems.
- Work with suppliers, vendors, and internal teams to ensure that all components are produced to the highest quality standards.
- Manage project timelines and budgets to ensure on‑time delivery and cost‑effective solutions.
- 20% – Develop and Oversee Testing Procedures
- Develop and oversee acceptance testing and periodic testing of GSE, material handling equipment, and transportation systems.
- Ensure that all equipment undergoes rigorous testing to validate performance, reliability, and safety.
- Document and analyze test results and implement corrective actions as necessary.
- 10% – Communication and Representation
- Prepare and present results through oral presentations and written communications to various stakeholders.
- Draft comprehensive reports, technical documentation, and project updates.
- Represent the organization in meetings and teleconferences to address important questions and plan coordination efforts.
- Ensure effective communication and collaboration with cross‑functional teams, clients, and external partners.
- Travel – 10% to L3
Harris facilities, suppliers, or customer sites.
- Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior Logistics Transportation Engineering experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior Logistics Transportation Engineering experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior Logistics Transportation Engineering experience.
- Active US Secret Security Clearance.
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or related field is desired.
- Advanced degree in Aerospace Engineering or related field is a plus.
- US Top Secret Clearance is preferred.
- Experience with material handling and Department of Transportation regulations.
- Experience with military standards for material handling hardware.
- Experience in systems safety, reliability, or affordability engineering is a plus.
- Certification in logistics or supply chain management is a plus.
