Rocket Motor Production Specialist (Redstone Arsenal, AL)

Supporting missile defense systems with expertise in rocket motor design, manufacturing, and qualification.

Responsibilities
  • Provide technical expertise supporting multiple rocket motor launch vehicle systems.
  • Track motor production plans and resolve production anomalies.
  • Evaluate design, manufacturing, test, and qualification programs for motor components.
  • Assess thrust performance and recommend trade‑offs to senior leaders.
  • Review commercial launch system capabilities for MDA flight test events.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

Required:

  • Master’s degree in STEM with 12+ years experience on missile defense‑related or large DoD programs.
  • U.S. Citizen.
  • Active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Desired

Skills:

  • Experience with manufacturing aspects of rocket motor components.
  • MDA/DoD experience and familiarity with the Missile Defense System.
  • Familiarity with MDA flight test targets and threats.
  • Experience with Model‑Based System Engineering tools.
  • Experience with explosive systems on space and launch vehicles.
  • Familiarity with aging and surveillance programs for rocket motors.
  • Familiarity with small ordnance testing (LSC, pyrovalves, etc.).
  • Experience with AIAA‑S‑113.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong preference for solid rocket motors and motors for short‑range ballistic missiles and larger vehicles.
  • Experience with stress, loads, and structures analysis.
  • Experience with propellant grain manufacturing and characterization.
  • Familiarity with ground test operations related to motor firings.
  • Knowledge of metal and composite materials common to rocket motor design.
  • Finite element analysis and computational fluid dynamics.
  • Familiarity with MDA and/or DoD programs and processes.
