Overview
Health Physicist in Huntsville, AL with experience in Radiation Safety related to DOD commodities to support the AMCOM Safety Office through review of test data, site surveys, and inspections for the Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) site License management. This role involves evaluating systems and components with respect to radiation safety and human factors engineering in support of transport, handling, and maintenance performed on aircraft and missile components at depot, overhaul, and maintenance sites.

Responsibilities- Provide technical expertise in health hazards assessments and Radiation Safety as a Health Physicist with respect to DOD commodities to support the AMCOM Safety Office.
- Perform health hazard evaluations and track AMCOM managed commodities containing radioactive sources requiring 100% inventory accountability to ensure accurate health hazard assessments.
- Support radiation measurements and sampling at AMCOM facilities by recording acquired data for analysis and interpretation for health hazard evaluations of systems for facility certification.
- Provide technical expertise in safety and health hazards to support the AMCOM Safety Office Radiation Safety Training efforts, including training Radiation Safety Officers and Civilians involved with AMCOM licensed commodities.
- Provide technical expertise in human factors engineering associated with radiation and radiation safety; review training and training material and provide recommended changes to documentation techniques and procedures related to health hazards of radiation, including assessments and evaluations.
- 10+ years of experience in Radiation Safety & DOD commodities
- Must have a SECRET level clearance
- Office environment
- Requires ability to communicate clearly, accurately, and in a timely manner, verbally and in writing
- Ability to interact professionally with coworkers, management, and customers
Requires ability to travel domestically (within the U.S.).

- Ability to lift >15 lbs
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, make rational decisions, and exercise good judgement
- Work attire must be appropriate for the position and not pose a safety risk
