Phased Array Level II Technician – ECS Group of Companies, Huntsville, AL
Responsibilities- Field
Activities:
Perform observations, testing, inspections, and sampling of construction materials including soils, aggregates, concrete, grout, masonry, asphalt, and structural steel; execute tasks under guidance of senior technicians, staff professionals, and project managers; inspections may be conducted in fabrication facilities or on mechanical piping systems and pressure vessels. - Testing Procedures:
Conduct routine observations of structural steel and reinforcing steel, with welded/bolted connections; use various methodologies and equipment following industry standards; include ground penetrating radar (GPR), material verification, and corrosion surveys. - Data Collection:
Perform calculations and data reduction based on sampling, test results, and inspections; drafting and administrative duties as required; maintain field equipment organization. - Communication:
Maintain daily communication with site contractors, technicians, and project managers; attend project meetings; inform project team of test results and share technical advice. - Training & Development:
Receive training in ECS methodology for observations, inspections, testing; document findings; mentor junior technicians.
- Support in enhancing professional skills and career growth with internal and external training programs and certifications.
- 5+ years of related experience.
- High school diploma or GED.
- ASNT NDT Level II certification and at least two additional advanced industry certifications (NRC, NICET, WACEL, ACI, IFC, AWS, ASTM, etc.).
- Ability to obtain maximal certifications.
- Ability to lift 40–70 lbs multiple times a day or occasionally 85 lbs to waist height.
- Valid driver's license and insurance.
- Transportation support for job sites; mileage reimbursed.
- Strong communication skills.
- Advanced knowledge of destructive and non‑destructive testing principles, applications, and standards.
- Expert understanding of heavy construction safety.
- Ability to work at heights.
- Effective collaboration with clients, peers, supervisors.
- Proficiency with electronic devices (phones, tablets, laptops).
- High-level reading and interpreting engineering and construction plans.
- Basic MS Office knowledge.
- For NDE testing, ability to calibrate NDE equipment.
