This position provides systems engineering support to the development of the avionics system for a rocket that is the cornerstone of an exciting space program in the new era of human exploration beyond Earth’s orbit. The position is a jack-of-all-trades, requiring no in-depth skills in a specific technical discipline, but instead seeks someone who likes to dabble in multiple areas and can tackle a diverse set of problems.

Responsibilities can include resolving avionics issues as they arise, maintaining and verifying system requirements, developing and maintaining system level documentation (e.g., rocket Concept of Operations documents and Design documents), coordinating product status and changes with vendors and the NASA customer, planning and tracking projects, and responding to critical customer needs. The candidate will work with other System Engineers to create a viable avionics system for future crewed missions.

• Bachelor of Science in Engineering or related field
• 5+ years of experience in engineering aerospace systems
• Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret clearance

• Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Systems Engineering
• Experience as a Systems Engineering lead and/or Project Engineer in the aerospace field
• Knowledge of rocket avionics systems, e.g., Power, Navigation, Instrumentation, Engine Control
• Experience with the systems engineering and integration process, from requirements development through product deployment
• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Active DoD Secret clearance

Location - Huntsville, AL. Travel is minimal, with an expected maximum of once per quarter to product suppliers or NASA centers.
