Description
The Mechanical Designer will provide computer aided design (CAD) drafting and prepare drawings and schematics derived from a variety of specifications, layouts, blueprints, and sketches. This will be accomplished through use of computer aided drawing software and other techniques, standards, and tools to prepare technical drawings.
Responsibilities include:
- Design components and assemblies such as machined components, sheet metal components, weldments, pipe routing, cable routing, 3D printed parts, injection molding parts, mechanical assemblies, electrical assemblies, etc.
- Transform initial rough product designs into working documents using CAD software.
- Review engineer drawings and designs to ensure adherence to established specifications and standards.
- Work closely with engineers and other professionals to create component and systems designs or processes and develop drawings for a wide variety of components and systems.
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve designs, reduce cost and lead time, and reduce risk.
- AS in Design or related field
- 3+ years of relevant experience
- Secret DoD Clearance or the ability to obtain a Secret DoD Clearance
- Experience with GD&T
- Experience with Solid Works and/or Auto Desk Inventor
- Experience designing custom machined components, large assemblies, and piping systems
- Configuration Management experience and/or experience with PDM
