Overview

Ahead of Ready — Lockheed Martin Space is seeking a Materials and Process Engineer to work on a broad range of projects in an advanced manufacturing environment, utilizing additive manufacturing and novel materials to operate in hostile environments. You will collaborate with designers, test and manufacturing engineers to develop and evaluate new technology and processes for high-reliability missile systems.

In this role you will work on technical assignments related to Parts, Materials and Processes, oversee PMP selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis, prepare technical reports and specifications, evaluate suppliers, and coordinate with team engineers, internal/subcontractor interfaces, leadership and customers to ensure program requirements are met. You will also review engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to support design releases and respond to program PMP Control Board requests.

Responsibilities
  • Participate in and lead technical assignments related to Parts, Materials and Processes in a high-reliability missile system
  • Help oversee PMP selection, qualification, testing, and failure analysis
  • Prepare technical and progress reports, prepare specifications, evaluate suppliers, and analyze test reports
  • Coordinate with team engineers, internal/subcontractor interfaces, leadership and program customers
  • Oversee review of engineering drawings and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure compliance with program requirements
  • Provide Standard and Non-Standard requests to the program PMP Control Board, enabling approved design releases
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications:

  • Professional experience in the Aerospace Industry or a related engineering field
  • Experience with PMP Engineering or related areas such as specifications, product development, qualification/screening, receiving inspection
  • Formal coursework, training, or experience in design and manufacture of aerospace hardware
  • Knowledge of engineering drawings, BOMs, and program standardization processes
  • Experience with corrosion mitigation, galvanic corrosion, coatings, platings, and finishes
  • Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance; US Citizenship required

Desired

Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college in Chemistry, Material Sciences, Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
  • Prior Material Review Board (MRB) authority and Failure Review Board (FRB) experience
  • Significant direct experience supporting manufacture of aerospace hardware, missile systems
  • Ability to work independently and multi-task with demonstrated leadership
  • Excellence in writing, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Active or current Secret clearance or higher

This position requires a government security clearance; US Citizenship required.

  • Schedule for this Position: 9x80 every other Friday off

Salary & Benefits: The annual base salary range varies by location and is provided as a general guideline.
