We are pleased to announce the opening for a Digital Engineering Area Manager who will join our Research and Development team in Huntsville, Alabama and become part of our rapidly growing technology company operating in missile defense, cybersecurity, test range modernization, biotechnology, and space control market spaces. You will lead a team known for combining domain expertise with emerging technologies to deliver outstanding, innovative digital products to our government customers.
This is a leadership role with oversight for multiple significant software development programs.
Here’s what you’ll be doing:
You’ll be a key member of our Technical Solutions division, leading projects that develop and exploit new technologies, executing multiple proof-of-concept type projects in quick succession, and growing our Digital Ecosystems area. You'll be responsible for your group's growth across multiple Government customers. Area Managers are experienced leaders that possess a comprehensive understanding of their area's operations, strategic objectives, market growth and innovations, and industry dynamics.
Area Managers provide leadership, direction, and guidance to their teams, ensuring the achievement of performance targets and technical excellence. They drive continuous improvement, identify growth opportunities, and foster a culture of innovation and collaboration. Area Managers drive organic growth by spearheading initiatives, fostering innovation, and ensuring the organization's offerings meet evolving customer needs. They actively contribute to organizational strategy, cross-functional coordination, talent development, and training and course development initiatives.
They take a leadership role in business development, leading efforts to author proposals, cultivate relationships, and identify opportunities for expansion into new markets and customer segments.
This position is considered a senior position. You will need to be able to demonstrate an exceptional degree of technical ingenuity, intellectual curiosity, aptitude for building (as opposed to simply analyzing or theorizing), clear communication, and a track record of successful business development/bid and proposal efforts. You will be a self-starter and able to demonstrate a history of program creation and growth.
Here’s what you’ll need:
You must have a Master's degree at minimum, in a scientific or engineering field such as Physics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Mathematics, Aerospace Engineering, or similar. Also, we’re looking for someone with twelve years of full-time professional experience in a combination of technical leadership and organizational leadership roles. Finally, you must possess or have the ability to obtain an active Secret Security Clearance.
Lacking any one of these disqualifies you from this job.
You also must have:
- A high degree of technical competence in one or more of the following areas:
- Software development (backend or full-stack; plus one or more of Python/C++/C)
- Machine learning (or a combination of mathematics and computer programming)
- Dev Ops and/or Cloud Architecture
- Outstanding demonstrated technical competence and ingenuity in one of the three areas identified above [Must be able to quickly understand, apply, and adapt challenging technical concepts without a walkthrough]
- Exceptional aptitude for leading teams that build high-quality modern software products [Must be able to demonstrate this by a portfolio of work in some capacity]
