Aviation Test Lead – Avionics Software
Iron Mountain Solutions, Inc. is seeking a test lead for avionics software in Huntsville, AL. The candidate will provide test plan development, review and support for an Army Rotary Wing Project Office.
Job Responsibilities- Complete specified tasks and responsibilities and document, track and complete actions from various functional leads.
- Develop risk analysis and mitigation plans for assigned test projects in technical, schedule and cost areas.
- Support test events associated with an aviation project and travel to OEM facilities to witness tests, and review test plans and reports.
- Develop methodology and SOPs for testing and evaluating software and hardware plans that comply with specifications and functional requirements, including MILSTD‑810/461/464 testing.
- Support development of Test Strategy and/or Test and Evaluation Master Plans (TEMPs) and lead T&E Integrated Product Teams (IPTs).
- Coordinate, develop, and revise Airworthiness Flight Releases (AWRs) with the Systems Readiness Directorate (SRD) to meet developmental flight test and ECP timelines.
- Review program reports and disseminate to appropriate departments for formal review (SRD, ATEC, AFTD, RTC or OEM contractors).
- Review Army Aviation contractor Statements of Work for cost effectiveness, verification of airworthiness requirements, and overall engineering capability.
- Plan, coordinate, oversee, and develop cost/schedule estimates and execute assigned test projects within cost and schedule budgets.
- Prepare and present briefings to interface with technical representatives.
- Provide written and verbal assessments to management regarding status, issues and risk.
- Provide feedback for contract reviews, TIMs, design reviews and other technical meetings.
- Bachelor’s degree preferred with 10+ years of relevant work experience in test and evaluation.
- Strong work ethic, ability to work effectively with others and desire to acquire new skills.
- Knowledge of test and evaluation principles, laws, regulations, policies, precedents and major program objectives and processes.
- Experience with development, testing and evaluation of aviation systems.
- Experience reviewing and developing Airworthiness Flight Releases (AWRs).
- Experience functioning and leading within a team‑oriented environment.
- Knowledge of Black Hawk platform structural, mechanical and dynamic component interrelationships and capabilities.
The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, sit, use tools or controls; perform normal physical activity (reach with hands and arms, climb stairs) and communicate effectively with all levels of employees and leadership. The employee must occasionally lift or move office products and supplies up to 25 pounds.
Travel & ClearanceTravel may be required up to 15% of the time. Must have an active Secret Security Clearance. Ability to obtain a Secret Clearance is required.
