About the Role: As a Trajectory/Conceptual Design Engineer, you will support business development and programs ranging from small tactical systems to orbital launch vehicles. You'll know you’re successful when you leverage creativity and technical expertise to design and characterize solutions quickly and accurately. You will join a small team empowered to define scope and aid in generating requirements that use industry‑standard and in‑house tools to design solid rocket motors, characterize aerodynamics, and analyze trajectories.
Minimum of 5 years directly related industry or academic experience, plus a fundamental understanding of physics and missile systems engineering principles.
Responsibilities- Trajectory Analysis: Develop and analyze tactical, ballistic, suborbital, and orbital launch vehicle trajectories for rail launch and thrust vector control (TVC) guided systems; perform dispersions and fault analysis to ensure robust system performance.
- Trajectory Simulations: Conduct 3
DoF and 6
DoF trajectory simulations using tools such as POST2/POST3D and/or TAOS. - Weights & Sizing: Apply a multidisciplinary skill set to analyze launch vehicle performance, in‑space systems, landers, propulsion, aerodynamics, technology assessments, and value stream mapping.
Skills & Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
- 5 years related industry experience.
- Proficiency in trajectory simulation tools such as POST2/POST3D and/or TAOS.
- Strong understanding of launch vehicle sizing, mass properties, and multidisciplinary systems analysis.
- Working knowledge of solid motor ballistic analysis and associated toolsets.
- Programming proficiency in C++, Python, Matlab/Octave, and Fortran.
- Effective communication skills across stakeholder groups.
- Experience with simulation, software testing, and HWIL testing.
