Responsibilities
  • Create complete 3D models of each project, including top levels assemblies, sub-assemblies, and parts as needed, with all assigned properties for analyses, complete and accurate BOMs, and manufacturing-ready drawings optimized for cost, strength, and manufacturability.
  • Communicate with Electrical Engineers to identify and resolve differences between electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and client requirements.
  • Use finite element analysis (FEA) to analyze parts, perform stress calculations, create verification tests, document results, and adjust designs as needed.
  • Research, read, and understand outside standards such as MI, RVIA code, SAE, etc.
  • Create, implement, supervise, and document tests verifying designs meet customer requirements.
  • Complete all analyses, documentation, and drawings required for production within established time frames as agreed with the Operations Team.
  • Ensure that correct documents are available to the appropriate teams within the company.
  • Collaborate with Engineers, Project Management, and Production Leads to identify and implement improvements at both the project and company levels.
  • Interact with vendors and clients to troubleshoot designs, obtain specifications/drawings/models of components, and gather new design information.
  • Analyze proposed Change Orders and communicate their impact on design parameters, timeline, and budget; estimate engineering time and assess feasibility; propagate downstream revisions to analyses, documentation, and drawings promptly.
  • Assist Sales and Marketing by creating 3D models and 2D drawings for proposals.
  • Utilize nesting software to prepare nest files for CNC cutting.
  • Track and record work hours for each project daily.
  • Be willing to travel as needed by Management.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by Management.
Basic Knowledge Desired
  • Application of engineering science and technology to design and production of goods and services.
  • Computer Aided Design (CAD);
    Solid Works preferred.
  • Knowledge of raw materials, production processes (welding, machining, grinding/cutting), quality control, costs, and methods to maximize manufacturability.
  • Understanding of physical principles and how they apply to fluid, material, mechanical, electrical, electromagnetic, atomic and sub-atomic systems.
  • Be comfortable and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite and other CAD programs.
Physical Demands
  • Stand and sit for extended periods; manual dexterity for office equipment.
  • Occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.
Working Environment
  • Professional office environment with regular interaction with guests, clients, team members, and vendors.
  • Typical indoor manufacturing environment; moderate noise. Safety glasses and closed-toe shoes required on the production floor.
  • Business casual/smart casual attire appropriate for the office environment.
  • Exposure to temperature fluctuations when on the production floor.
  • Maintain a professional image and demeanor on company property and off-site when representing the company.
Qualifications & Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering or Engineering Technology; ABET accredited.
  • 2–5 years of verifiable Mechanical Engineer experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience with Solid Works modeling, drawings, and file management.
  • An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted for the above requirements.
