QTEC Aerospace is looking for a highly capable and motivated individual to serve as the Lead Software Engineer on the Fire Control System for a large Missile Defense Program. The selected candidate will join a team of professionals supporting a major Missile Defense Development Program in Huntsville, AL.

• Participate in all phases of the SDLC including requirements analysis, design, development, integration, and testing.
• Lead a team and drive value delivery for the infrastructure of a complex Missile Defense command and control system.
• Support an in‑person / closed‑area work environment.
• Occasional travel may be required.

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline and at least 8 years of related experience, OR a Master’s degree with 6 years of related experience, OR 4 years of experience with a PhD (not to exceed 14 years).

• Recent and extensive experience developing software in C++ or Java.
• Willingness to become proficient with Ada software development.
• Experience with Unix/Linux operating systems.
• Experience leading a technical team of 5 or more individuals.
• Experience estimating, planning, and scheduling software development work for a technical team.
• Eager to learn and absorb new concepts and information.
• Experience with Agile project management tools (Jira/Confluence) and Dev Sec Ops  tools and methods (Jenkins, Ansible, Git/Gitlab) for CI/CD automation.
• Proven experience in understanding and implementing complex algorithms.
• Proven team player able to understand multiple aspects of the project.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to collaborate with cross‑functional teams and prepare and brief technical presentations to the customer as needed.
• Self‑motivated and customer‑oriented.

• MDA and Missile Defense System experience and knowledge.
• Experience developing software in Ada.
• Recent MATLAB and Python experience.
• Highly experienced with Linux, scripting, and operations.
• Advanced degree in Mathematics or Physics.
• Math skills:
  Linear Algebra, Statistics, Algorithms.
  • Can be from coursework or work experience.
• Physics skills:
  Astro or Orbital mechanics.
  • Can be from coursework or work experience.
• Experience with optimization algorithms.
• Experience with planning/scheduling algorithms.
• Experience with sensor modeling, communication modeling, and / or missile modeling.
• Battle Management or Fire Control experience.

Candidates must currently have and be able to maintain a minimum DoD SECRET level security clearance.
