Bel Research has an immediate opening for a Senior Electrical Engineer in Huntsville, AL.

Position Description

Applicable for the GMD Weapon System (GWS) Hardware Engineering team in an Agile environment. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining electrical drawings for multiple Ground Systems IPT hardware systems, performing analyses per industry and military standards, creating rack/system level drawings, maintaining drawings in a PLM system, evaluating hardware design efforts, scheduling, planning tasks, leading small teams, writing reports, attending team meetings, demos, and documenting progress on team dashboards.

Responsibilities
  • Oversight and coordination of electrical systems design.
  • Evaluation of electrical systems, components, and applications by reviewing designs.
  • Ensuring product quality by validating design standards.
  • Delivery of Electrical Systems design Technical Data Packages, as‑built TDPs, PDPs, interface models, and additional artifacts.
  • Supporting structured trade studies to evaluate alternative design solutions and resolve technical issues.
  • Developing and presenting design change requests, coordinating with stakeholders, ensuring configuration control of the technical baseline.
  • Identifying risks and opportunities, executing mitigation actions to reduce risk or realize opportunities.
  • Developing and maturing system designs that meet Weapon System requirements, MIL‑STD, and applicable codes and regulations.
  • Creating system level block diagrams, intraconnect/interconnect design, and cable harness design.
  • Supporting reviews of System Performance Specification, PIDS, HRS, and other artifacts via DOORS in a controlled classified area.
Education Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering and five years’ experience.

Experience Requirements
  • 2 years of professional experience using CAD packages (Visio, AutoCAD, Solid Works, CREO, Siemens Capital Suites, NX) for technical drawings.
  • Experience in at least two of: electrical/power system design, network communication system design, cable harness fabrication design, and performing electrical load analysis.
  • Experience reviewing engineering specifications, electrical schematics, and/or drawings; translating customer requirements into specifications.
  • Understanding and application of industry and company electrical engineering standards and procedures; demonstrated component design experience and trade study development.
  • Experience evaluating COTS and military parts for compliance with requirements.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Self‑starter, team player, multi‑tasking, independent work, strong judgment and interpersonal skills.
  • Clear communication of data.
  • Prior experience with PLM systems such as Teamcenter and MRP systems such as SAP.
  • Independent work capability, flexible to changing direction.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Recent experience leading a small project, including task and schedule planning.
  • Mentoring and cross‑training junior engineers.
  • Recent experience generating engineering documentation including technical drawings, specifications, reports, test procedures, program procedures, and CDRLS.
  • Experience in system engineering areas: technical planning, requirements derivation, functional analysis, timeline analysis, trade studies, cost & risk analysis, interface definition, system design, integration, verification & validation, supportability, effectiveness analyses.
  • Experience with Visio or Siemens Capital Suites.
  • Experience with mission critical and safety critical systems.
  • Familiarity with MDA Core Standards (MDA‑QS‑001‑MAP, etc.) and GMD domain and Launch Support Systems hardware.
  • Hands‑on mentality for fast‑paced environments.
  • Experience with DOORS and/or CAMEO.
  • IPC‑620 workmanship standards certification.
  • Experience with circuit card and schematic design tools.
  • Experience with lab test equipment (function generator, oscilloscope, multimeter, spectrum analyzers).
  • Security+ certification.
  • Familiarity with MIL‑STD‑1901A, MIL‑STD‑882, MIL‑STD‑461, MIL‑STD‑464, IEEE 802.3u, IEEE 802.3ab, TEMPEST 01‑13, NEC.
  • Familiarity with circuit card, controls systems, and component design.
  • Experience with short circuit, bent pin, sneak circuit analyses.
  • Experience with wireless point‑to‑point, point‑to‑multipoint, and multipoint communication devices and systems.
Security Clearance & Citizenship

Applicant must have an active Secret security clearance and be a U.S. Citizen.
