Responsibilities- Analyze and deconstruct advanced hardware platforms to reveal architecture, performance, and vulnerabilities.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary experts to transform insights into actionable design improvements.
- Contribute to national defense initiatives by ensuring reliability, security, and innovation in mission‑critical systems.
- Push the boundaries of technology in a dynamic environment where curiosity and technical mastery are valued.
- Conduct research, design, development, and testing of electrical or mechanical hardware such as computer chips, circuit boards, and components.
- Ensure reliability, develop technical specifications for production, analyze hardware configuration, and test hardware conformance to specifications.
- Design new or modify existing products as needed.
Hardware Engineer II (Junior)
- Assist with hardware design projects while working independently on smaller tasks.
- Support PCB layout and schematic capture under guidance.
- Troubleshoot and test components to validate functionality.
- Document findings and contribute to technical reports.
- Collaborate with senior engineers to learn advanced design practices.
Hardware Engineer III (Mid‑Level)
- Lead moderate hardware projects with minimal supervision.
- Perform system analysis and design evaluations to improve performance.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards in design and testing.
- Integrate hardware components into larger systems.
Hardware Engineer IV (Senior)
- Oversee complex hardware designs and drive technical innovation.
- Coordinate with cross‑functional teams to align hardware with system requirements.
- Conduct advanced simulations and performance assessments.
- Identify vulnerabilities and propose design improvements.
- Guide project execution and mentor mid‑level engineers.
Hardware Engineer V (Principal)
- Provide technical leadership and strategic direction for hardware engineering initiatives.
- Define architecture and long‑term design strategies for mission‑critical systems.
- Manage risk and ensure reliability across complex platforms.
- Represent engineering expertise in customer and stakeholder discussions.
- Drive innovation by setting standards and mentoring across all levels.
- Position performed on‑site at Redstone Arsenal.
- U.S. Citizen required.
- Top Secret/SCI (eligible) current and active at the time of application.
Hardware Engineer II – 2 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s in a related field; or 0 years with a Master’s; or 6 years with a high school diploma/degree.
Hardware Engineer III – 5 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s; 3 years with a Master’s; 0 years with a Ph.D.; or 9 years with a high school diploma/degree.
Hardware Engineer IV – 9 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s; 7 years with a Master’s; 4 years with a Ph.D.; or 13 years with a high school diploma/degree.
Hardware Engineer V – 15 years relevant experience with a Bachelor’s; 13 years with a Master’s; 10 years with a Ph.D.; or 19 years with a high school diploma/degree.
Preferred Requirements- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
- Hands‑on experience with hardware analysis and system evaluation (e.g., teardown, diagnostics, performance testing).
- Proficiency with PCB design tools (Altium, OrCAD, or equivalent).
- Strong troubleshooting and problem‑solving skills at the component and system level.
- Familiarity with industry standards and compliance requirements (MIL‑STD, IEEE, etc.).
- Background in FPGA/ASIC design and verification.
- Familiarity with hardware forensics, teardown, and system diagnostics.
- Prior work with government contracts or defense industry projects.
Must be capable of working in an office, industrial, shipboard, or laboratory environment. Must handle climbing ladders, confined spaces, and extreme temperature variations.
