We are seeking a talented Range Safety Analyst to support the MDA Targets and Countermeasures Engineering Directorate. The analyst will develop, verify, and manage flight termination system and range safety requirements, oversee hardware and software development, and participate in acceptance, qualification, integration, and checkout activities. The role may also involve component failure investigations and review board participation.
Key Responsibilities- Serve as the Range Safety expert for the Targets Program office during flight tests, Range Safety Working Groups, and functionality testing.
- Analyze and evaluate complex system project requirements, ensuring comprehensive understanding of all interfacing parameters.
- Define system objectives and prepare system design specifications to meet user requirements and interface needs.
- Oversee requirements development, allocation, and verification for target flight termination systems, autonomous flight termination systems, and associated range safety performance.
- Supervise GFE and CFE hardware and software development, acceptance, qualification, integration, and checkout.
- Prepare detailed reports documenting status, findings, and recommendations.
- Represent the customer’s interests in working groups, forums, and technical interchange meetings.
- U.S. Citizenship
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or a related field
- 8+ years of progressively complex systems analysis experience
- Active Secret clearance
- Working knowledge of range safety requirements such as RCC‑319 Flight Termination Commonality Standard and RCC‑324 Global Positioning and Inertial Measurements Range Safety Tracking Systems Commonality Standard
- Familiarity with missile flight safety analysis and associated products
- Proficiency in range tracking systems (inertial measurement, GPS, C‑band tracking)
- Ability to work independently or lead teams to analyze and resolve problems
- Capacity to work in a dynamic environment and manage multiple simultaneous actions
- Strong oral, written, and briefing communication skills
- Willingness to travel 25‑30% to support mission build‑up and flight activities
- Bachelor’s in a STEM field with 20+ years of experience on missile defense or other large DoD programs/projects
- Familiarity with autonomous flight termination systems
- Flight test range safety experience
- Background in batteries, RF systems, ordnance devices, antennas
- 10+ years of experience in defense and aerospace
