We are pleased to announce the opening for an Electrical Engineer / Research Engineer who will join our Research and Development team in Huntsville, Alabama and become part of our rapidly growing technology company operating in missile defense, cybersecurity, test range modernization, biotechnology, and space control market spaces.
You will be part of a team known for deploying new products for military and commercial use.
You’ll be supporting and leading projects that develop and exploit new technologies, executing multiple proof‑of‑concept type projects in quick succession. You will be expected to participate in securing funding through proposals to the Government and private funding sources. As part of this process, you will become intimately familiar with multiple technology areas, intellectual property and how to protect it, and the process by which technologies are evaluated for their potential to generate products.
This position is considered a junior‑level to senior position. You will need to demonstrate an exceptional degree of technical ingenuity, intellectual curiosity, aptitude for building, clear communication, and a track record of successful business development, bid, and proposal efforts.
- Bachelor’s degree and 5 years of experience
- Master’s degree and 3 years of experience
- PhD and at least 1 year of experience
- High technical competence in electrical or mechanical engineering
- Strong experience in PCB design and layout, multi‑layer board design, and manufacturability considerations
- Proficiency in embedded electronics design, including microcontrollers, FPGAs, and associated peripherals
- Hands‑on expertise in firmware development for embedded systems (C/C++, Python, RTOS environments)
- Demonstrated ability in board‑level troubleshooting, debugging circuits, signal integrity analysis, and rework/repair of prototypes
- Familiarity with multisensor systems, sensor selection, integration, signal processing, and calibration
- Experience with rapid prototyping, from concept to working proof‑of‑concept hardware
- Knowledge of edge device communication protocols (SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, Ethernet, BLE, Wi‑Fi)
- Ability to develop systems that bridge sensors and edge computing devices, ensuring efficient data acquisition, processing, and transmission
- Comfortable working across the full hardware development lifecycle—from early concept and bread boarding to design, testing, and production handoff
- Strong problem‑solving skills, creativity, and a proactive hands‑on approach to experimental development
- Excellent technical communication skills, including the ability to clearly document designs, test results, and troubleshooting steps
- Outstanding demonstrated technical competence and ingenuity in electrical or mechanical engineering, allowing rapid understanding and adaptation of challenging technical concepts without a walkthrough
- Exceptional aptitude for building tangible products, evidenced by a portfolio of work
- Strong intellectual curiosity, demonstrated by evidence of stepping out of comfort zones early and often
- Preference for self‑directed work, with evidence of identifying and executing solutions when given a problem
- Demonstrated history of effective collaboration, capable of working independently and leading projects with little guidance
- Demonstrated history of successful business development, bid, and proposal commercialization efforts, with enthusiasm for leading new efforts from proof‑of‑concept work
- Demonstrated ability to identify and parse relevant academic literature, with prior experience as a published author preferred
- Demonstrated ability to architect and execute proof‑of‑concept experiments
- Experience working in a startup environment
